Plan

Step 3: Decide on a plan.

We decided that we would carry out this project over a time span of about two years.
We first visited a series of the islands in late May of 2008. We did not get a chance to go again as the weather was too bad. We got out onto the islands on the 29 and the 30 of November. We decided that in the summer months of 2009 we would go out to study the lichens once more to see if their size had increased or if they had changed colour or if any other change could be detected. We knew we would have to mark the lichens photographed very precisely and we decided that the best way to do this was to use a standard GPS device to mark the geographical position of the lichens. This way when we will return in May we will be photographing the exact same lichens again.
