Lichens of Lough Corrib

In Area 6 we took some photographs of some lichen which were on the trees. Quite literally there was a dead tree full of life. An old, dead and rotting tree was full of little lichens which we found to be very interesting and ironic. Also on a living pine there were some crab eyes lichen and some yellow lichen.

This particular area was very rich in lichen. There were on the rocks, trees (alive and dead) and on the rocks. The area was exposed with only very small living trees (max. 2m in height), with grasses, heather and dead wood.
