Area 1: 53.5088n, 9.44903w
In Area 1 we were on the west side, facing west, of the middle Rouillaun. There were some various colours but it was mainly inhabited by a yellow lichen called Yellow Scales Lichen, some black lichen called Verrucaria maura (which was surrounded by a white lichen called Cudbear Lichen), a greeny-black lichen Aspicilia calcarea and a lichen which appeared twice that is un-identifiable using our books.
Cudbear Lichen: This lichen is locally known as Crottle or another name in the olden days Corcair. My Granny told me Corcair was the name of the dye in which people in the early fifties to sixties was used as a dye for the wool for the clothes. Corcair gave a purple colour and this probably comes from the Irish word corcaire.
